Our 20 years so far
Fundación CLC World celebrated its 20th anniversary during which time it has taken great steps to improve the quality of life of those who are most in need.
We are so grateful to the many volunteers for who give up their time and provide help and support to people who are struggling in the local community.
Fundación CLC World was founded in 1999 as a non-profit organisation whose volunteers wanted to contribute to the creation of a better world.
Convinced that perseverance and effort help impoverished societies to develop, the Foundation supports numerous local initiatives which promote an inclusive society for all. Inspired by the principles of commitment, humanity and inclusion, we offer solutions that help people in difficult situations and, in turn, improve the society we live in.
We offer maximum support to groups and individuals in need on the Costa del Sol and in Tenerife. In the last 20 years we have helped reduce perinatal brain damage by donating hypothermia and monitoring equipment to the Costa del Sol Hospital.
We wanted children with cancer to experience a space adventure during their hospital treatment and converted family accommodation into a ‘spaceship.’ Not forgetting the homeless people or those who rely on social centres for food.
All together, we have exceeded 2 million euros in financial contributions plus donations of food, furniture, clothing, computers and other essential equipment.
Without doubt, the greatest achievement of Fundación CLC World in the past 20 years was the construction of the F. Cruz Dias-ADIMI Care Centre in Mijas, which was made possible by the contribution of €1.6 million from the Foundation, through partners, customers and employees of CLC World Resorts & Hotels.
“I have been in business in Spain for 35 years, and it is a second home to me. My philosophy is that wherever I operate and am successful, it is my duty to reinvest and support members of the local community whether that is through financial aid, volunteering or donation of goods.”
Celebrating 20 years
Fundación CLC world celebrated its 20th anniversary on Friday, 13th September 2019 with a Gala evening.
Over 200 people attended the event at Safari restaurant within the Costa del Sol resort to enjoy a wonderful evening with cocktails, canapés and entertainment by the Malaga group, Dry Martina.
Guests included associations from around the province, authorities, media, sponsors, collaborators, partners, representatives of the company, ambassadors and volunteers of the Foundation. The founder of the Fundación, Roy Peires made a very positive assessment of the work the Foundation carries out and said: “I have been in business in Spain for 35 years, and it is a second home to me. My philosophy is that wherever I operate and am successful, it is my duty to reinvest and support members of the local community whether that is through financial aid, volunteering or donation of goods.”
This Gala event has been a special occasion to recognise the continued support of all those present and to reaffirm the Foundation’s commitment to society in general.
“Besides thanking all our Members, I also want to thank all of our volunteers. Without you none of this would be possible. Your time and kindness, so generously given to those who most need it, has helped sustain this great project. I am enormously privileged to be part of this great family.”
“In the last 20 years the Fundación CLC World has been an essential part of the Mijas community. The social compromise of this company and the Foundation has improved the quality of life of the many residents of my city. Thank you, Roy Peires, Richard Wafer and Juan Miguel Marcos, together with all the volunteers and professionals who made this possible. ”
